About this Tree Concern
Sudden Oak Death is a tree disease caused by a fungus-like plant pathogen. First recognized in the mid 1990s, the disease kills some oak species and has had devastating effects on oak populations in the U.S.
In Canada, the disease has been detected in nursery plants in southern British Columbia but the diseases has not yet been reported in Ontario.
Remediation
There is no treatment for sudden oak death. An infected tree must be removed and destroyed without leaving the current zone.
